We have been repeatedly asked about how one becomes a member in our organization. Until now, we haven't really had a program for that. Of course, if you are a regular volunteer, whether as a ranch hand, administrative assistant or board member, you are a "member" in a very direct, hands-on sense, and there will be certain functions and gatherings or meetings in which you are directly involved. But if you do not have the time to volunteer, can you still be a "member" of our organization and stay involved on a regular basis?
Yes, you can! Here's how you can become a Longears Patron, a member of our community:

Some donkeys will live at the Safehouse forever—due to age, trauma, or chronic medical needs. Your monthly sponsorship gives them steady, loving care for the rest of their lives.
Become a Supporter, Friend, Guardian, Champion or Hero to help provide hay, vet visits, hoof trims, and enrichment—everything a donkey needs to feel safe, healthy, and loved.

Every Sanctuary Donkey Patron helps provide the essential, ongoing care our permanent residents depend on. From daily feedings to hoof trims, your monthly gift makes a direct impact on a donkey’s life at The Longears Safehouse.
SUPPORTER - LESS THAN $50/MONTH
This is a thoughtful way to contribute to our monthly expenses, be it by adding a bale of hay or some sedative for farrier visits, a couple of bags of training treats or a bag of senior feed. Every little bit helps, and it helps even more if it can be counted on EVERY MONTH.
FRIEND OF THE HERD – $50-74/MONTH
A caring way to show your love for the herd. Perfect for anyone who wants to make a steady, meaningful contribution.
Your gift helps cover:
GUARDIAN – $75-149/MONTH
Step up as a Guardian to help meet both daily and critical care needs. This level supports hoof care and more.
Your gift helps cover:
CHAMPION – $150-249/MONTH
Champions provide sustained, transformational care for donkeys who need it, those who are aging, medically fragile, or emotionally healing.
Your gift helps cover:
HERO - $250 or more/MONTH
Heros are the ones on whom we can rely for our monthly hay, veterinary, and farrier needs; they are the backbone of our sanctuary program.

Step up as a Guardian to help meet both daily and critical care needs. This level supports hoof care and more.
Your gift helps cover:
- 1 full hoof trim
- One or more 3-string bales of Bermuda hay
CHAMPION – $150-249/MONTH
Champions provide sustained, transformational care for donkeys who need it, those who are aging, medically fragile, or emotionally healing.
Your gift helps cover:
- Two or more 3-string bales of Bermuda hay and a full hoof trim
- Farrier sedative for trimming our more difficult residents
- Hoof trim
- 1 tube of dewormer paste
HERO - $250 or more/MONTH
Heros are the ones on whom we can rely for our monthly hay, veterinary, and farrier needs; they are the backbone of our sanctuary program.
Your gift helps cover:
- A significant portion of our hay needs for the seniors
- Annual or semi-annual veterinary check-ups as needed
- A significant amount of our deworming or other pest control products
- A significant amount of our farrier expenses
Your compassion helps keep our sanctuary donkeys safe, fed, and loved every single day.
As a Longears Safehouse patron you will receive the following perks, depending on your level of patronage):

- Discounts for special events, including an annual private in person tour or donor Q&A with our Executive Director.
