LUELLA

Picture

   Jennet
   Age: c. 9
   Arrival: 2019

   Current status: In training
   CURRENT SPONSORS:
   ASSIGNED VOLUNTEERS:

History: Luella was saved at an auction in Belen by a family who placed her
with a horse trainer to develop her skills. The trainer did not get anywhere
with her, and she also had severe locked stifle issues at the time that
made her unsuitable for riding, driving or burro racing.  She still
occasionally has a locked stifle but it is very rare nowadays. Because of her latent stifle issues, however, she is probably not well suited for a life of strenuous activities.

Personality: She has a gentle and sweet personality and is very social with other donkeys. She is still aloof with people but loves treats, is curious, and ready to learn. She is very bonded with Sundance, our BLM burro from California, but also has a number of close girlfriends in her herd of 7, including Seca and Nellie.

Diet: Luella does very well on a diet of bermuda grass hay and barley straw. Her herd has a salt and trace mineral block and occasionally gets a tub of Equilix minerals. Sponsor Luella here!
