PABLO

Picture

   Mini donkey gelding
   Age: c. 21
   Arrival: May 2025

   Current status: Sanctuary
RECENT SPONSORS: Kate M., Laura C.
ASSIGNED VOLUNTEERS: Sue K., Dondei D.

History: Pablo was an owner surrender from Corrales, who came to us when his elderly owner entered assisted living. He had a troubled past, having attacked several of his caretakers and caused serious, long-term injuries to one of them. He would have been put down had we not agreed to take him on condition that the owner's family arrange for and cover gelding surgery for him. They did, and Pablo has been a good boy at our facility ever since.

Personality: Because of his past, Pablo is not generally up for adoption. He is, however, a favorite of our volunteers and visitors because of his friendly, affectionate behavior and love of people. We believe that his past behavior was due, in part, because of his hormones and also in part because of unsuitable conditions that simply drove him desperate and mad. He is a very happy and affectionate guy if he has other donkeys to play with as well as plenty of human contact. He loves wrestling with other geldings, especially Walter and Joaquin.

Diet: Pablo does well on a diet of bermuda grass hay and barley straw. His small herd of three - including Walter and Willy  - has a salt block and occasionally gets a tub of Equilix minerals. Sponsor Pablo here!
