HIKING & HISTORY

Due to the government shutdown, Fort Union is closed, unfortunately. Therefore, the event has a slightly revised program: We will meet at Watrous Coffee House at 10:30. Then we will be guided to the nearby private Shawlonds Ranch, where we will be taking a shorter hike with the donkeys with views of many Santa Fe Trail landmarks and ruts to walk in, left by those long ago wagon trains. And you will get to see a herd of wild horses, too! A picnic and lecture will still follow the hike.

TICKETS ARE ONLY $20, AND ALL PROCEEDS ARE USED TOWARD OUR MISSION OF RESCUE, REHAB, REHOMING, SANCTUARY, AND EDUCATING THE PUBLIC ABOUT DONKEYS AND MULES.

The event is perfect for folks whose donkeys still need to learn a few things about trail hiking because there is very little traffic in the Fort Union area. And, of course, it is a hugely exciting event for history buffs as well as for any avid hikers and donkey trekkers!
