TIGGER

Picture

   Female Hinny
   Age: c. 20
   Arrival: 2022

Current status: Sanctuary and in training
   RECENT SPONSORS:
   ASSIGNED VOLUNTEERS:

History: Tigger is a 13+hh hinny who first arrived here in
August 2022 together with a jennet her size named
Dolly. The two were being surrendered by their rescuer
who had saved them from the slaughter pipeline in
California but had to give them up due to health issues.

While Dolly quickly advanced in her training level and was ready for adoption by the end of 2022, Tigger was a lot slower. The decision was made to adopt Dolly out without Tigger because the two had already made other friends here and had been integrated in a small herd of mules and donkeys. Dolly would move on and become a riding donkey, and Tigger would be able to continue with training on her own time. At one point, Tigger had a volunteer interested in training and adopting her, but it didn't come to that. We love Tigger, and she can stay here for as long as she needs. She sure has lots of company here!

Personality: Tigger is still a bit shy with people but has come a long way since her arrival in 2022. Like all hinnies, she loves female donkeys and often calls for those she sees in neighboring herds at our facility. She currently forms a complicated love triangle with Sheila and Toby, and she also likes to hang out and share hay with Mina the mule. She can be brushed now if approached in the right way, and she will do many things for treats. She is still in the process of basic ground training (haltering, leading, grooming, and picking up feet) but has been making progress.

Diet: Tigger and her herd get bermuda hay, minerals, and salt. Sponsor Tigger here!
