Adopt a donkey or two: We are always looking for good homes for our donkeys. These donkeys come from a broad range of backgrounds. Some were abused, and then we spend the time to teach them how to trust humans again before they get adopted. Some were neglected, and we nurse them back to health. Most of the donkeys that come to us have not had any training, so we provide basic halter training, leading and hoof training. We do not provide specialized saddle or driving training, but some of our donkeys would be very well suited for such a career, and some come to us already saddle or cart trained. Some of our donkeys come from good homes that just could no longer provide for them. Such donkeys often are very well suited for showing or even parades because they have never experienced any abuse and possess the amount of calmness and emotional balance necessary for a life in public. If you think you have enough space on your property (we like to see an acre per donkey) to set up facilities for a pair of donkeys, let us know! Consider adopting a donkey from us rather than buying one from a backyard breeder.
We require sufficient space, shelter and equine (preferably donkey) company for our babies, and we have certain standards for their physical and mental wellbeing, depending on their specific needs, history, and personalities. Adoption fees vary from $300 to $600 for a single donkey (if you already have a donkey or other equine at home) and $500 to $1000 for a pair, depending on training status. If you need a horse companion, we strongly recommend getting a couple of donkeys. Most of the donkeys we have encountered prefer donkey company and tend to bond very closely with another donkey. We do not usually split up bonded pairs (unless for some reason it would be better for the respective donkeys to go different ways). Horses do fine with two donkey companions. It gives them a sense of a larger herd that they can dominate.

Volunteer at our farm: Our farm just outside Estancia, NM, always needs some additional hands for maintenance, mending fences, mucking pens and shelters, feeding, watering and interacting with the donkeys. We can also use skilled talents to help with handyman tasks at the farm.
